Nancy Jane (Joustra) Chase

Nancy (Joustra) Klein-Chase went to her Lord and Savior in the comfort of her home of 50 + years surrounded by the love of her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip “Ron” Chase, and her brothers Don and Marvin Joustra.

Nancy was a woman full of love, charisma and compassion.  She was a favorite aunt to her nieces, nephews and extended family.  She was also loved as a step mother and step grandmother.  She had a very special way of connecting with children and animals.

Nancy was a woman beyond her time. She was an entrepreneur and pursued her love for animals by running a successful grooming business out of her home.

Nancy will leave many missing her infectious smile and quick wit. She enjoyed great desserts with even better company.

Nancy was an example of an unconditional love and connection in her family and to her friends. In her last earthly months, Nancy managed to bring everyone together through the love we all have for her. She will be missed by many and her legacy will be kept alive as she will continue to live with us in our hearts.

The family would like to thank the NorthStar Care Community and Hospice of Michigan, for all their care and compassion during Nancy’s last few months.  Every person on staff, from nurse Darlene, bath aide Rosemary to pastor Mark, brightened her day with their care visits.

Those wishing to offer expressions of sympathy are encouraged to make a memorial contribution to the West Michigan Humane Society or Carol’s Ferals of West Michigan.

Nancy expressed her wish for a picnic memorial celebration instead of funeral services.             

The family will host an open house on Sunday, June 18, 2023 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at Richmond Park Pavilion, 963 Richmond St NW, Grand Rapids 49504.

Nancy’s grave is located nearby at Lot 591, Sec C, in Washington Park Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 1205 Richmond St NW, Grand Rapids, Michigan, 49504.
