Matthew Read Obituary

Matthew Peter Read unexpectedly passed away on Friday May 12th 2023. He was 52 years old and was born in Grand Rapids Michigan. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Read and step-father, Paul Malchick.

He is survived by his mother, Lynn Malchick; step-mother, Vicky Read; brother, Thomas Read Jr. and his wife Michelle; sister, Dawn Ledesma (Eddie and family); sister, Barb Malchick and her husband Randy Jacobs; sister, Susan Ullman (Ted and family); brother, Larry Malchick (Cathy and family); niece, Makayla Read; nephew, Thomas Walker Read III; nephew ,Austin Vespi (Jackie and family); nephew, Carter Vespi; nephew, Cole Vespi;  Aunt Mary Jagnow (Kent) and several cousins and extended family.

Matthew graduated from Sparta High School in New Jersey in 1989. He graduated from the Grand Rapids Community College Police program, although he never pursued that as a career. He worked for many years as a security officer at St. Mary's and Metro Hospitals. Matthew started a successful furniture restoration business that he thrived at.

He lived an adventurous life. He loved anything outdoors; camping, hiking, skiing, boating, and riding his motorcycle, just to name a few. He also loved photography as some of you may know from his social media postings.

Lynn and the entire family would like to thank all of Matthew's friends who helped him through difficulties over the past couple of years. He will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched.
