McLaughlin, Mary Ann Died on Saturday, August 1, 2015 after a long courageous battle with many health issues. She is preceded in death by her parents James H. McLaughlin and Emmy Lou (Stark) McLaughlin. She is survived by her beloved cats, Gus and Emma, her dear friends, Nancy Schulte, Steffi, Jeff, Isabel, Maxwell Condon and Deborah Pawloski. Also surviving are her cousins Toni (Stark) Langford-Ferguson (Richard), Sharon (Stark) Hooper (Lennon) and LouAnn Miller Wildey. Mary Ann was born in Grand Rapids on June 23, 1938. She attended Saint Thomas Grade School and graduated from Mount Mercy Academy. She received her diploma in Nursing from Mercy Central School of Nursing in 1958. She received a B.A. in Psychology from Aquinas College and a Masters in Adult Psychology from Wayne State University. Mary Ann worked as a Pediatric Staff Nurse at Saint Mary's Hospital, an Allergy Nurse in Dr. Maternowski's office, a Visiting Nurse in Kalamazoo, a Pediatric and Psychiatric Faculty member for Mercy Central School of Nursing, an Associate Professor in Adult Psychiatry at Grand Valley School of Nursing and an Addiction Staff Nurse and Counselor at Grand River Recovery Center. She was Director of Nursing and a Mental Health Addiction Counselor at Lovelace Park Center in Albuquerque, NM and was licensed as a Drug Abuse Counselor in New Mexico. During her life, Mary Ann impacted anyone that she came in contact with and she will be missed by these good friends that she inspired. She will also be missed by her former nursing students, classmates, work partners and group members that she met with regularly. She is remembered for her love of music, beautiful singing voice, dry, quick, sense of humor and her ability to tell it like it is. We truly loved her and pray that she is with her beloved Lord. Visitation will be Monday, August 10th from 7-9 PM at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood. A Rosary will be held at 7:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held 11 AM Tuesday, August 11th at Immaculate Heart of Mary 1935 Plymouth Ave. SE. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
