Lula "Mae" Patten of Grand Rapids, Michigan, age 96, passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2021.

Mae was preceded in death by her husbands, Edward A. Hess and Robert Bruce Patten; daughters Jennifer Webb (Dennis), Leslie Scipioni (Brian) and son Stephen Hess (Sue).

She is survived by her daughter Judith Bernard (John) of Columbus, GA, daughter Sharon Berg (Donald) of Grand Rapids, MI, son Brian Hess (Sandee) of Clover, SC, and son David Patten of Mountain View, CA. Also, grandchildren Brent, Amanda, Chris, Jonathan, James, Annie, Tim, Kimberly, Amy, Megan, Eric, Cori and Brandon; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

In Mae's earlier years she loved to golf and spend winters in Arizona. To her credit, she was very active in the Episcopal Church and headed-up various women's groups. She was also a secretary in the Kentwood School District.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Ofield Funeral Home and her ashes placed in the garden at St. Andrews Episcopal Church.
