Kenneth L. Van Putten, 87, of Grand Rapids, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 28, 2024.  He passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.

Ken was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was born November 25, 1936, to Russell and Doris Van Putten. He grew up in Grand Rapids, was a graduate of Creston High School and Grand Rapids Junior College, where he earned a degree in Tool & Die Engineering. Upon graduation he applied to American Seating Company where he met his wife Gloria, whom he married in 1956. Ken went into an apprenticeship program and became a Tool and Die maker for Paragon for 50 years before retiring at age 72.  He was a hard worker and highly respected by those who knew him.

Ken was friendly, enjoyed sports and the outdoors. Some of his favorite activities included watching football, bowling, snowmobiling in the Upper Peninsula, tennis, golf, boating, camping, especially at Wildness State Park, and of course activities with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Doris Van Putten (Jackson). Ken is survived by his wife of 67 years, Gloria VanPutten (Vereecken).  His four children; Terri (Ernie) Skidmore, Mark (Kim) VanPutten, Mike (Leigh) VanPutten and Steven VanPutten.  Eight grandchildren; Steven Skidmore, Megan (Elliot) Repko, Kathleen (Josh) Kasnowicz, Amanda (Travis) Gregg, Joshua (Anna Hilton) VanPutten, Shawn (Kaitlyn Bagge) VanPutten, Connor VanPutten and Austin VanPutten. Also 11 great grandchildren; Axel, Titus, Zack, Chloe, Jett, Adelaide, Kollins, Addison, Elise, Felicity and Bria.  His brother and sister; Jim (Caren) VanPutten, and Luanne (Dave) Houtman.

Ken was a good man who will live on forever in the memories of his family.

A memorial service will be held at 12 pm Saturday, February 17th at Reslife Church located at 5100 Ivanrest Ave. SW in Grandville. Easiest to enter from 52nd St. and then enter through door “K.”  Visitation with the family will be from 11 am to 12 pm, before the service begins and a light luncheon will be served immediately following the memorial. Ken will be interred at Rosedale Cemetery in Grand Rapids with a private family burial.
