Kenneth Norman Matice

Kenneth Norman Matice, age 62, passed away peacefully with family by his side August 28th, 2023; after a short, courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Ken was born to Frank and Bonnie (Millering) Matice on September 18, 1960 in Grand Rapids, Michigan; and attended Forest Hills Northern High School.

Ken was a well known, well liked, big hearted, jack of all trades with a carefree spirit and a genuine smile. He had a strong passion and talent for woodworking during his time at Rose Johnson and Steelcase over the years. He was a skilled handyman, assisting friends and family with any and all home improvement projects.  Mechanically inclined, he enjoyed several hobbies involving tinkering; however Ken’s favorite past time over many decades was spending time working on cars and motors, on and off the race track.

He was proceeded in death by his older brothers David and Brian Matice, parents Frank and Bonnie Matice, and his son Kenneth Robert Matice.

Ken will be greatly missed by his sisters, Karen (Pat) Nolan, Tracy (Bill) Warner and Nancy (Bill) Augustine. As well as daughter Kathleen Matice and granddaughter Sophie Aleman, daughter Jillian Matice and fiancé Evan Williams, former wife, Pamela Matice, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends turned family.

Per his wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Ken’s 63rd birthday celebration will be held Sunday, September 17th, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Eastern Avenue Hall. 506 Eastern Ave NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
