Ed's body, his physical tent, has been taken down by ALS, having lived with it for over 15 years. His soul is with the LORD, his Savior, whom he loved and served. He was born in Northern Ireland, the son of Calvin and Eileen. He immigrated to the States with his parents and sister May when he was fourteen years old. He met his wife, Lorna (Walker) in college while studying to become a preacher. They lived in Virginia and worked for Liberty University for 15 years. Ed felt led to move to Grand Rapids in 1987 to become the senior pastor of Calvary Church which he helped lead for 18 years. He is survived by Lorna, his children Kent (Amanda), Heather (David Hammond) and Daniel, and his grandchildren Lucy, Jonas, Frances, Zora, Daisy, and Dashiell, his sister May (Dave Bauscher), nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and an uncle in Northern Ireland and America. The family wishes to express thanks to all who have contributed to their support and help through the years, including the U of M Neurological Clinic, the St. Marys ALS clinic, Holland Home's Breton Woods community and Faith Hospice, all medical and staff personnel, caregivers and helpers, close friends and support groups, Calvary Church family and Mars Hill community, all gestures of kindness and love.
