Dixie Arnold Obituary

Dixie L. Arnold, age 68, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023.

She was the daughter of Anthony J. and Opel M. Long of Wyoming, Michigan.

Dixie graduated from Godwin High School in 1973. she was the grooviest, most far-out, caring, loving, compassionate and vibrant soul you could ever meet. Her love for life, family and animals went beyond measure.

Dixie was preceded in death by her mother Opel, father Anthony, step-son Jeffrey Arnold, husband Donald Arnold, and brothers, Tom, Jimmy and Anthony (Tony) Long.

Dixie is survived by her sister, Mary and brother Mike Long, sister-in-law, Kathy Long, her step-children, Holly & Truman Smith, Donald & Amber Arnold; (adopted) children, Porsche & Katana Whitehead, and Cainan & Ahaziah Long, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and many, many friends with special friends, Kathy Snay and Chris Harmsen.

A funeral mass will take place on Thursday, November 9 at St. Mary's Catholic Church (423 First St NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504) at 11:00 am with a visitation being held from 10:00-11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the family for the children's expenses.
