Obituary

Dennis S. Chase of Hastings, Michigan, age 91, passed away on August 29, 2023.  He was born to Jess and Marion Chase on March 5, 1932, in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Denny graduated high school, then bacame a member of the United States Army and fought in the Korean war.  He was shot in the hand while overseas and was given an honerable discharge when he returned.  He was a member of the Orangeville Fire Department, started his Law Enforcement career as the Constable of Orangeville township, then became a Deputy for the Barry County Sheriff Department, and finally retired as the Law Enforcement Officer for Barry County Friend of the Court. 

Denny was married to Betty Chase on November 3, 2008.  After 9 months battling heart problems and weakness, he passed peacefully at home with his wife and son by his side.

Denny loved traveling and camping, but his biggest passion was fishing, and collecting old fishing lures.  One of his favorite places to fish was the Manistee River.  He fished every chance he had. 

Denny is survived by his beloved wife Betty, his son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Sue Chase, daughter Denise (Paul) Mucherino, grandchildren Randy (Rhiannon) Chase, Tara (Brian) Abbott, Ronnie and Jessie Mikolajczyk, and great-grandchildren Kaden, Avrum, Sirius and Zev Abbott, and Charlotte Chase.  Honorable mention to his best friend Donnie Landon, and his Step-son Scott Miller.

The family welcome you to share any memories at his Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 16, 202, 4:00pm at Thornapple Valley Church, 2750 M-43 Hwy, Hastings, Michigan.  There will be a luncheon to follow.
