Connie Sue (Tatroe) Chwalek

Connie Chwalek, 66, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2023,
at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 9, 1957, in Grand
Rapids, MI, to Robert Tatroe and Betty Thompson (Stewart).

Connie was a hardworking, loving, and kind woman. She dedicated her life to her family.
She was a model of strength and love for her children. She adored her family; this was
expressed by the many family photos around her home.

Connie was married to her husband, Cass Chwalek, for 25 years. They were
inseparable and shared a deep love and mutual respect for each other. To their
respective families they were a model of love and devotion.

Connie was known for her hard work ethic. For many years she for managed Port City
Cab Company. She took pride in supporting the community of cab drivers in the city. She
would eventually change career paths, and in the last 20 years of her working life, she
worked for St. Mary’s Hospital as a switchboard operator. Connie loved helping patients,
visitors, and staff. She always greeted people with a smile and answered the phone with
such care and support. Connie was proud of the work she did and loved the friends she
made throughout her life.

Connie loved to laugh and enjoyed family gatherings. She loved to cook and thoroughly
enjoyed holiday meals. While Connie loved Thanksgiving and Christmas, the Fourth of
July was her absolute favorite occasion to gather with friends and family. There were
many times in the past where they would campout all day downtown to have the best
spot to celebrate the fireworks. She adored spending time with her grandchildren.

Connie is survived by her husband, Cass; her children: Amy McDonald (Shawn), Robert
Green (Bethann), Jeffrey Green, Dawn Lewis (Phil), and Micheal Chwalek; her
grandchildren: Clarissa, Adeline and John Green, Steven Chwalek (Deanna), Kyle Chwalek, and
Rowan Chwalek; and her sibling, Robert Tatroe (Cynithia).

The family is planning a Celebration of Life at a later date.

Connie was a special mother, wife, grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of
everyone she met. She will be deeply missed.
