Clarence (Punk) Richard Wells

Clarence (Punk) Richard Wells, age 84, of Otsego, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.  He was born to Orie and Alice (Koster) Wells on June 16, 1939.

Punk was the youngest of five children.  They grew up in Portage.  He was a plumber, union pipefitter, and truck driver.  He was a professional motorcycle racer and won the Michigan State TT Championship in 1972, as well as hundreds of other races over his racing career.  He once loaded his pickup with his trophies and gave them to all the neighborhood kids.  He loved to teach others to race.  He was formerly the president of the Outriders Motorcycle Club and member for 40 plus years.

Punk is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sandra (Brigance); former wives: Betty Osborne and Valerie Thurston; sons: Randy Wells and Clarence (Rick) Wells; daughters: Tammy (Thomas) Wells-Crawford and Wendy Wells-Frisbie; stepdaughter, Betty Lou Rosenberger; 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.  

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nancy; brother: brothers: James (Rayna), William (Juanita), and Orie (Elsie).
