Carolyn Lee (Vandlen) Peterson

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Carolyn Lee Peterson, 78 years old. She
was called into her heavenly home on Monday, May 8, 2023. She was a loving wife, mother,
grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
She was born to the late Arlo and Doris Vandlen. She attended Olivet College where she
obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She taught music for many years and then later
taught English.
She is survived by the love of her life, Ted, her husband of 55 years; her children Todd and
Mindy Peterson, Cathy and Greg Ball, Brian Peterson-Roest and Brian Roest-Peterson; her
grandchildren Kelsey and Kendal Novak , Cory and Cara Ball, Tyler and Christopher Peterson;
and her new great-grandchild Addison Ball. She also leaves behind two brothers, Douglas and
Anne Vandlen and Larry and Jane Vandlen along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carolyn loved her Lord and Savior and her church (First Evangelical Covenant Church). She
enjoyed travel and took many trips with her children and grandchildren and loved spending
winters in Florida with Ted. She was passionate about sewing and quilting. She also loved
playing games and taught all of her children her favorites.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service for Carolyn will be held on Tuesday, May 23rd,
at 11:00 am at First Evangelical Covenant Church (1933 Tremont Blvd NW, Grand Rapids, MI
49504). Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. There will be a light lunch served
in the Fellowship Hall after the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Choir Fund at First Evangelical Covenant Church or
to the Capital Fund Drive at Portage Lake Bible Camp, 4158 Camp Delight Rd, Onekama MI
49675.
