Obituary

With hearts full of cherished memories, we celebrate the life of Zachary Alan Edwards. Born on a sunny day, June 15, 1993, in Grand Rapids, MI, Zachary's journey was one of passion, laughter, and love. His time among us was cut unexpectedly short on October 1, 2025, in the same city that witnessed his first breath.

Although his departure was sudden, the legacy of joy and kindness he leaves behind is eternal. Zachary's life was a tapestry woven with the love of his family. He was the cherished son of Cindy Hogue and David Edwards, and his stepmother Lori Edwards held a special place in his heart. His bond with his sisters, Tabitha Dittenber and Cassee (Zach) Biteman, and his brother Dannion Hogue, was unbreakable, and their shared laughter will echo through time. The joys of brotherhood extended to his step-siblings Holly Edwards, Katie (Adam) Cogswell, and Mitch (Angelina) Edwards, with whom he shared many of life's adventures. Zachary was also a beloved nephew to April and Drew Johnson, and a loving uncle to Cameron, Cubba, Olive, Kyla Grassmid, and AJ, Atlas, and Liam Biteman, Diana, Scarlett and Celina Cogswell, and Maddox, Odin and Ollie Edwards instilling in them a zest for life that will flourish for generations. His cousins Christian, Evelyn, and many others will hold dear the fond memories created with Zachary. His significant other, Jessica Zarecki, was his partner in love and life, sharing dreams and moments that will forever be imprinted on her heart.

Zachary's academic pursuits reflected his sharp mind and relentless curiosity. He was diligently working towards his bachelor's degree, committed to expanding his knowledge and honing his skills. His professional life as a software engineer at Burke E. Porter was marked by innovation and excellence, where he was not only a colleague but a friend to many.

Beyond his academic and professional accomplishments, Zachary's interests painted the picture of a man who embraced life with vigor. His passion for camping, gaming, and motorcycling were more than hobbies—they were chapters of his story, filled with excitement and freedom. The restoration of his '66 Dodge Charger was a testament to his patience and dedication, a project that mirrored his approach to life: taking something with potential and making it extraordinary.

The words intelligent, generous, and funny are not merely descriptors; they are the essence of Zachary's being. He approached every challenge with a sharp intellect, every person with an open heart, and every moment with a sense of humor that could light up the darkest room. Zachary's life, though too brief, was a beacon of inspiration. He taught us to savor every moment, to embrace our passions, and to spread kindness without reservation.

As we bid farewell to Zachary Alan Edwards, let us not dwell on the silence of his absence but rather on the symphony of memories he composed. His spirit, a melody of laughter and love, will forever resonate within us, urging us to live fully, love deeply, and laugh heartily. Zachary, your life was a gift to us all, and your memory will be treasured eternally.
