William Clarence Wiering, age 71, of Alto, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at his home due to natural causes.  Will was born in Grand Rapids, on December 5, 1952, to Dick and Grace (Dirkmaat) Wiering.  He was a graduate of Kentwood High School.  After high school, he obtained an Associate Degree from GRCC.

William worked as a manufacturing employee at Steelcase.  He enjoyed boating, jet skiing on his lake, gardening in his flower garden, traveling, and camping.  He could fix just about anything.  He was a loving and devoted father.  His children were a very important part of his life, and he loved spending time with them at Lake Michigan.

Will was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Diane Wiering; and a niece, Abbey Wiering.

Will is survived by his sons: William R. Wiering and John (Grace) D. Wiering; siblings: Ada (Lee J.) Haggerty, May (Len) Vining, Frank (Tammy) Wiering, Dirk (Cindy) Wiering, and Miranda (Pete) Cronheim; as well as nine nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Kentwood.  A visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  A graveside service will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 2894 Patterson Ave SE, Grand Rapids.
