Obituary

William (Bill) Vance, of Kalamazoo, MI (formerly of Flint and Detroit), passed away
on April 4, 2023. He was born to Cecile and Basil Vance on April 4, 1942, in Flint,
MI. He worked as a supervisor and manufacturing engineer at Chevrolet Detroit
Gear and Axle for 34 years.

Michigan in 2004. Bill served in volunteer leadership positions in the organizations
most dear to him – his church, and the Boy Scouts of America. In addition, he was
an avid philatelist and a wonderful father to his two sons, Stephen and Michael.
He also served his local community however he could, by membership on boards,
leading millage campaigns and volunteering in other capacities when needed. He
served in the Marine Corps Reserves.

Bill is the oldest of seven children. He is survived by his wife Pat, his son Stephen
and wife Jenny, his son Michael and wife Marcie, and two granddaughters, Emma
and Kelly. Also surviving are sister Sharon (Ron) Snider, and brothers Robert
(Suzanne), Walter (Dawn), Curtis (Terry) and Kevin, as well as numerous nieces,
nephews and friends. Brother David preceded him in death.
