Obituary

Bill, Dad, Grandpa, Sweet William, Kerrby, Billy…all names we used for William Andrew Kerr. Born in Pontiac, Michigan, on December 26, 1945. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret Kerr. He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Peggy) Kerr; children: Chad Kerr, Matt Kerr, and a very special daughter-in-law, Tammy Kerr; 5 grandchildren: Brittany Kerr, Mackenzie Kerr, Chase Kerr, Tristan Kerr, and Bryce Kerr; brother Robert (Bob) Kerr and his wife Carol Kerr. Bill graduated from Clawson High School, attended Univ. of Wyoming and Huron College on football scholarships. He proudly served his country as a Seabee (CB-Construction Battalion) a branch of the United States Navy, serving in Vietnam. He worked in the construction industry as an Operating Engineer running heavy equipment and as a Pipe-Fitter working on Power Plants (nuclear and coal-burning). But as an ordained minister, he loved serving people and leading them to a life-long walk with Jesus Christ as their Savior. Bill's biggest joy in life was his grandchildren. From playing pirates, sword fighting, rowing them around the lake looking for more pirates, sledding, snow tubing, building twinkie trains, and making animals out of potatoes or bars of soap, to graduations, sports, cheering them on…no matter the goal. A dress-casual Celebration of Life will be held at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49508 on Saturday, January 13, 2018. Family will welcome guests at 9:30 am. Celebration will begin at 10:15 am. Bill's desire was to be cremated and ashes spread where he enjoyed his grandchildren the most. Internment will happen at a later date. In lieu of flowers, we ask that contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, donation link can be found on our facebook page.
