William (Bill) Edward Jarrett, age 101, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026. 

Bill was born on June 7, 1925, in Cromwell, Indiana, and grew up in Elkhart. A proud member of the Greatest Generation, he served in World War II as a member of the 91st Chemical Mortar Battalion. Following his military service, Bill enjoyed a long, vibrant career as a commercial artist. His creative talents left a lasting legacy; He was the Art Director at the Perrigo Co. in Allegan, Michigan and the imaginative creator behind "The Great American Toilet Paper Debate" featured in the book "Weird Michigan". 

An outdoor enthusiast, Bill enjoyed camping in the woods and the thrill of hunting for morel mushrooms. In his later years, he brought his strong work ethic to the family business, working side by side with his son Al, and later his grandson Aaron, at Jarrett Roofing. Known for his quick wit, unmatched sense of humor, and gentle, kind personality, Bill effortlessly earned the friendship and admiration of many over his remarkable 101 years. 

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia (Kiser) Jarrett; his son, Alan Jarrett; his grandson Chad Jarrett; and his great-grandson Cameron Christy. 

Bill is survived by his daughters, Sandra (Ron) Rogers, Michelle (Larry) Campbell, and his daughter-in-law Kathi Jarrett/Weemhoff. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren; Aaron Jarrett, Chris Campbell, Cory Campbell, Jodi (Jarrett) Gritters, Andy Rogers, Amber (Campbell) Karsies, and Tonya (Jarrett) Christy. Bill leaves behind a legacy of love through his 13 great-grandchildren who will miss him dearly. 

Bill saw a lot of incredible things over his 101 years and was often heard uttering to himself..."It's a crazy world!"
