Obituary

On June 15, 2021, William "Bill" Charles Hostein passed into Heaven, on the Loving Arms of Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior. We praise God that Bill is out of the prison of Alzheimer's Disease, and he will live all of Eternity in the presence and Glory of God.

Bill was born in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, on March 25, 1950, and moved to the United States at the age of two, and grew up in Dearborn, Michigan. He has been a resident of Ada, Michigan for the last fifty years. He graduated from Edsel Ford High School in 1968, and was a proud Boy Scout achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. Bill went on to graduate from Western Michigan University and spent forty years teaching, and nearly thirty years as a firefighter.

Bill was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He could light up a room with his big smile and loud laugh. He was a friend to anyone he met. Bill had a big heart that would love to seek and help the underdog, and the ones who others would cast away. He could strike up a conversation with anyone.

On Easter Sunday, March 27, 2005, Bill became a born-again believer. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior during Pastor Ed Dobson's last Easter sermon at Calvary Church. God used him to touch many lives. He was an honest and loyal man in the way he lived, and many could see the goodness of the Lord in how he lived. Bill loved helping people, which showed in the choices he made of being a teacher, a fire fighter, and a willing volunteer for many worthy causes. He was very thankful that he could help out at the Northwest Food Pantry in Grand Rapids, during his retirement years.

Bill is survived by his wife Bobette; daughters Julianne (Gary) Harp, Mariterese (Sam) Jenkins; stepdaughters, Carrie (Steve) Fusee and Sarah (Brian Durham) Lockwood; grandchildren, D'Antay Jenkins, Margaret Jenkins, William Harp, Kendyl Fusee, and Peyton Fusee.

He was preceded in death by his parents Stewart and Leah Hostein.
