August 31, 2014 HELMHOLDT, WILLIAM 08/18/1936 - 08/31/2014 William "Bill" Helmholdt passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Isabelle Helmholdt, his brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Judy Helmholdt. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marianne; daughter, Holly Wagner (Joseph); son, Dr. Andrew Helmholdt (Tonya); grandchildren, Joshua and Jacob Bowman, Hannah and Olivia Helmholdt; great grandchildren, Reagan and Addilee Bowman. He will also be missed by his brother, Charles (Diane) Helmholdt and sister, Barbara Helmholdt; sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Adrian Kuiper, Carol and Lary Hoezee; many nieces and nephews. Bill was co-owner of Helmholdt's Home Decorating. He had a natural creative talent. He enjoyed spending time with his family, many friends and he loved his family dogs. He loved boating and had a special interest in the Great Lakes, Great Lakes ships, shipwrecks and lighthouses. He enjoyed creating model ships of the Great Lakes and Lighthouses. He also was a talented woodworker. Bill was a life-long member of Hope Reformed Church in Grand Rapids. He was a very active and dedicated member and loved the Lord. The family will greet relatives and friends Friday, September 5 from 7-9 PM at Hope Reformed Church 2010 Kalamazoo Ave. SE Grand Rapids, MI. A Memorial Service will be held at Hope Reformed Church, Saturday, September 6 at 11 AM. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10 AM until 11 AM prior to the service.
