July 27, 1954 – July 11, 2016
Geluso, William 7/27/1954 - 7/11/2016 Byron Center Bill Geluso, 61, of Byron Center, died Monday from complications of multiple sclerosis. Bill grew up in Kentwood, running track and cross country at Kentwood High School. He lived in Jenison in the 1980s, Caledonia in the 1990s and Byron Center in the 2000s. He is survived by his wife, Jane (Curtis) Geluso; his brother Tom and wife Mimi of Grand Rapids; his sons James and wife Dawn of Olympia, Wash., Joe and wife Maiko of Ames, Iowa, and Paul of Jenison; his stepsons Joel and wife Andrea of Ann Arbor and Matt of Brooklyn, N.Y.; his grandchildren Eli, Sofi and Zoey and stepgrandson Jack; his nephews Tony and Jonny and niece Abby; his former wife Ruth Kohley; and great supportive friends Roger Van Noller, Billie Reed and Bill Kitchen. He was preceded in death by his parents Tony and Esther Geluso of Kentwood. At Bill's request, there will be no services and his earthly remains have been cremated. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to multiple sclerosis research. Bill worked for Steelcase for nearly 40 years, from the time he graduated high school to his retirement, and made many friends at work. He enjoyed being outdoors, whether in his backyard, on a camping trip, or on fishing trips to Canada. He was a runner, tennis player and golfer. He was committed to multiple sclerosis research, even staying in a clinical trial after it became apparent it would not help him in hopes it would benefit others. He took pride in his home and the achievements of his children, and his love for his family was unconditional and always.
