Dewolfe Conrad
March 23, 1929 – July 9, 2023
William (Bill) Dewolfe Conrad, age 94, died at Corewell Butterworth Hospital on July 9, 2023, following a short illness. At the time of his death, Bill was a resident at Mission Point of Grandville. Born on March 23, 1929, in Alton, IL to Frederick and Selma (Dewolfe) Conrad, Bill was the third of five children and moved with his family to Jackson, MI in the early 1930s. With his father and brothers, Bill worked at Mrs. Conrad's Bakery in Jackson. Bill was a proud Korean War Army Veteran, and a graduate of Jackson High School, Michigan State University, and Western Michigan University. Bill was a management analyst with the State of Michigan for over 25 years. After retiring, Bill moved to Vancouver, Washington, where he lived until 2017. He moved back to Michigan at that time and lived in Spring Lake until 2022, when he moved to American House in Jenison. Bill was a voracious reader and enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions with his son David. He is survived by his son David (Susan) Conrad, grandsons Harrison Conrad and Benton Conrad, brother Charles Conrad, sisters Marcia Viets and Liz Ellingson and many nieces and nephews. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's name may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan. The family wishes to thank the caring staff at American House of Jenison, Mission Point of Grandville, and Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital for the compassionate care they provided Bill in his final days.
