On May 25, 2018, William M. Bremer was freed from the bonds of his illness at age 75 and went home to be with his Heavenly Father. He was born April 18, 1943 in East Lansing, Michigan and attended East Lansing schools, Michigan State University, and Wayne State University Law School. He practiced as an attorney in the Grand Rapids area for nearly 50 years. Bill was an avid golfer, a wonderful storyteller, patient and loving, and deeply rooted in his faith. He was predeceased by his parents, Nina Bremer and Col. Ernest K. Bremer, U.S. Army, stepmothers Dottie Bremer and Jane Bremer, his wife, Connie Bremer, and his sister, Julianna B. Miller. He will be deeply missed by his family, including his sister, Carol (Lyle) Thomas of Perry, stepbrothers Thomas Kuester of Alexandria, VA and John Daugherty of Frankfort, stepsister Ann Daugherty of San Francisco, his children, Lisa (David) Hampel, Debra (David) Bremer-Leone, and Kathryn Holzgen, grandchildren, Breton (Alyx) Hampel, Christian Hampel, Kathleen Holzgen, Rebecca Holzgen, Emily Alton, and Nathan Alton, and great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Kenzley Hampel. The family wishes to thank Bill's Kentwood Christian Church family for their caring and support during his illness. A visitation will be held on June 4 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Kentwood Christian Church, 5841 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, MI 49508, and an additional visitation will be held on June 5 at 10:00 am at the church, with a celebration of life service immediately following at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kentwood Christian Church missions fund.
