Obituary

Bill White, 69, of Traverse City, Michigan, passed away on April 25, 2026. Bill was born on June 23, 1956, in Garden City, Michigan, to Albert and Bernice White. He dedicated his life to caring for and providing for his family, which remained his greatest pride.

He is survived by his former spouse, Rose (Korson); his children, Billy (Anna) White, Geromy White, and Emily (Stephen) Morehouse; his grandchildren, Silas, Otto, and Litzi White, and Miles Morehouse; and his brother, Joe White. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Bernice White, and his sister-in-law, Camille White.

Bill will be remembered for his outgoing, feisty spirit, and strong work ethic. Never one to shy away from trying something new, Bill pursued multiple careers throughout his life. He began as a freight and passenger airline pilot, flying Domino’s Pizza executives and members of the Detroit Tigers across the country. After the birth of his first son, he chose to stay closer to home, purchasing and operating the M-204 Country Store in Lake Leelanau. He later served his community as a Corrections Sergeant with the Leelanau County Sheriff’s Department, where he retired after 25 years of dedicated service.

Outside of work, he had a deep love for grilling and cooking for others; often joking about opening his own restaurant or food truck. Bill was a passionate fan of the Detroit Tigers, Lions, and U of M football team and enjoyed watching them with friends and family.

A memorial service will be held at Mission Hill Church (6105 Center Rd, Traverse City, MI, 49686), on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.

Bill will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
