IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William "Bill"
Dehommel
February 25, 1950 – October 10, 2023
William "Bill" DeHommel, the man who set sail on the greatest adventure of all, passed away at the age of 73, on October 10, 2023, in Grand Rapids, MI. His departure was as graceful as a well-timed exit from a party, leaving us with memories filled with laughter, wisdom, and the faint sound of a well-tuned guitar.
Bill's life was a testament to love and commitment, beautifully illustrated by his 47-year marriage to his beloved wife, Paulette "Pete" DeHommel. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, adventure and their loyal Lucca.
His legacy continues through his brother, John DeHommel (Houng), and sister, Marion Zuiderveen (Joe), as well as daughters, Robin Smith (Mike) and Emily Berrigan (Kevin) five grandchildren one great-grandson and many nieces and nephews.
Bill's love for music often filled the rooms of his home and the hearts of his family. His passion for sailing was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his soul's desire for freedom and adventure. Bill's life was a beautiful melody, a song of love, family, and the joy of the journey.
As the sun sets on Bill's earthly voyage, his memory will live on as a beacon of love, guiding his family and friends through the tides of life. His was a voyage well-sailed, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of sharing in his life's journey.
