William B.
Anson
Apr 23, 1944 — May 22, 2026
William “Bill” Anson went home to Jesus on May 22, 2026, at Rose Arbor in Kalamazoo, Michigan. At 82 years old, he had lived a full life and was beloved by his family and friends.
Bill was born April 23, 1944 in Plainwell, Michigan to Maxine June McLain-Anson and Lawrence Anson. He married Darlene Tyler-Anson in August 1965. Shortly after their wedding, he served in the Vietnam War for two years. When he was honorably discharged, they started a family and raised their two daughters in Kalamazoo, later moving to Richland.
Bill was a hardworking operating engineer. When he retired at age 50 he was able to enjoy his hobbies of woodworking, gardening, and auto-mechanics. Like his father, he was a talented carpenter who built many things for his loved ones including half of the Anson house, and an outside playhouse for his granddaughters. He was known for his big heart, vibrant personality, and, those close to him might fondly joke, his stubbornness. He could befriend anyone and make them laugh at his stories. Throughout his life he set an example as a husband, father, and grandfather, and he will be missed dearly by all.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Cindy. He is survived by his wife Darlene, his daughter June Louise Anson-DeBat and her husband Richard DeBat, grand-daughters Lauren DeBat and Rachel DeBat, and siblings: Mary-Jane Parkin, Thomas Anson, and Chris Taylor. Bill wished to be cremated and his ashes will be spread over Lake Michigan where he was baptized. A celebration of life is to be held at a later date.
