Obituary

On June 8th, 2024 Will Riddell Hovarter (age 40) took his final breathe while surrounded by loved ones after a 7 year battle with cancer. Will had many loves in his life. He was an avid fly fisherman, connoisseur of whiskey, great chef, fireworks extraordinaire and UofM fanatic. Most importantly, he loved his family.

Will is survived by his daughter, Harlow Hovarter (Chris Shaffer), sisters Morgan Babson and Meredith Hovarter, niece Sunie, nephews Skyler and Sayler, great niece Kora, step-father Garrick Gaffigan, and "step-daughter" Paige Davis. He also leaves behind his caregiver and close friend Roxie Claxton, longtime confidant Shelley Brock, and their family: David (Amie) Brock, Samantha (David) Hodge, and their children.

Will was preceded in death by his father, Roger Hovarter, and mother, Melissa Gaffigan. He will be greatly missed by close friends: Jason and Kim Harper, Mike and Lisa Bennett, Steve Wilson, Kellie Campbell Leach, Raelene and Brian Davis, and so many others. In addition, Will leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to University of Michigan-Health West Cancer Center to thank them for seven years of top-notch care: U of M Health-West Foundation, 5900 Byron Center Ave, Wyoming, MI 49519. Please put "in memory of Will Hovarter" in the memo line.

A celebration of life will be held on July 5th from 2:00pm-7:00pm at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 5830 Clyde Park Ave SW, Wyoming, MI 49509
