Obituary

Wendy Lynn Stroup "Roberts" was born on September 2, 1960, and passed away on November 14, 2025, at the age of 65, surrounded by her family.

Wendy worked many years in the hospitality field, with her last job in the housekeeping and laundry department at Tender Care Portage. She made many friends there with whom she stayed in contact over the years. Wendy enjoyed being pushed around casinos for hours, trying to find the right machine to win on. She also enjoyed spending time watching soaps and reality TV shows, including "Lizard Lick Towing", "Pawn Stars", and "Monday Night Raw", which always gave others a great laugh at how serious she took the shows and thought they were real. Wendy was a jokester, although she was never good at telling jokes as she would always give away the ending first. She was the worrier and warrior of her family, always checking in on others and helping them out, even when she was sick herself. She would have given the shirt off her back to help someone out. Wendy fought through many battles in her lifetime until her very last breath, leaving the nurse saying, "That woman's heart is strong." Wendy was and should be remembered as the unconditional lover she was.

Wendy was preceded in death by her parents, Jay N. Roberts and Lena Mae Roberts, and her husband, Larry Stroup. She leaves behind several siblings, Randy and Sara Roberts, Wanda and Joe Davis, Lisa and Bo VanDyken, Kelly and Jack Lard, Curt Proctor, and Rick and Stacy Proctor. Her daughter, Jessica Gonzales, and her son-in-law, John Gonzales, also survive her. Additionally, she leaves behind her godson, Jason Rupe, step-children Rich and Shalona Velasquez, Larry Velazquez, Jesse Velazquez, Andy and Jennifer Hooker, Carrie Lewis, and Evonne Woolworth. She also leaves behind her granddaughters, MaKayla and Jeff Gates, and MaKenzie Morris, whom she loved very much. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom were her favorites and whom she loved very much. She wouldn't want us to leave out that she was also "Granny" to several neighborhood children, including Dallas, Tommy, Sierra, and Zander. Thank you for always being there for her. Last but not least, Wendy leaves behind her non-human "dog" companion, Zanny.

The family is planning to have a celebration of life at a later date and time to be determined.
