IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wendell Charles
Hahn
January 16, 1941 – February 8, 2019
Wendell Hahn, also affectionately known as "Barber to the Stars" died Friday, February 8, 2019 at the age of 78. The following is the obituary that Wendell wrote himself: "Born, January 16, 1941 in Escanaba, Michigan. Grew up in Bark River on a farm where my parents, Frank and Bessie, had a farm implement business. After my high school at Cedar Lake Academy, it was on to Detroit Barber College. My first job was in Niles (12 years) then Grand Rapids. I loved my 56+ years of barbering (over 40 in downtown Grand Rapids). Many friends were made, advice was given and received (no extra charge). While in Niles, I took up flying and on winter weekends went to Boyne Mountain to ski. I loved to ski, especially in Aspen and Utah. I have been a big fan of the Green Bay Packers and an avid car fanatic, especially Porsches and BMWs. In 1998, I married Vicki Swanson from Orlando and have been fortunate to enjoy her love. After selling my '36 Grand Banks, I took many trips to Europe. In August 2017, I was diagnosed with lymphoma and was treated at the Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion. It's a place with a totally great staff. Cancer won. I have a beautiful stepdaughter from a previous marriage along with her family-Jennifer (Spencer) Rasmussen and their children Abigail, Anna, Alexandra, Anders and Ashton from Holland, Michigan; brother-in-law, Bob (Verbelee) Swanson and sister-in-law, Lynda Swanson; nephews, Trevor and Andrew; nieces, Erica and Julia; and many, many loving friends. I will be buried at the Wilson Seventh-Day Adventist Church Cemetery in the U.P. where my family is buried and will wait there until Jesus' Second Coming to be caught up in the clouds to be with family and the Lord. Donations can be made to Kent County Humane Society or Guiding Light Mission." A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at Thornapple Community Church (3260 Thornapple River Dr. SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan). In May he will be interred at the Wilson Seventh-Day Adventist Church Cemetery near Escanaba. Revelation 22:20 - "He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, Come, Lord Jesus."
