Wayne Lee Vinkemulder, aged 88, of Jenison, MI, passed away on December 5, 2024. Born on April 5, 1936, Wayne dedicated 39 years of his life to the C&O/CSX Railroad, as a switchman and conductor. Wayne was a kind and loving father and husband known for his warmth and generosity. He attended Burlingame Congregational Church in his youth and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in McAllen, TX, and Parkwood Presbyterian Church in Jenison, MI. His faith was an important part of his life.
He leaves behind his wife of 67 years, Beth, daughters Marcia (Randy) Christensen and Sandra (David) Kremer; grandchildren Brian (Angela) Johnson, Alison (Troy) Jeup, Kate Kremer, Jennifer (Andrew) Moffitt, Nicole (Matthew) Dilley: and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Barry Vinkemulder. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Geraldine.
Wayne had a passion for golf, notably achieving a hole-in-one, and was an avid race fan, especially of the Indianapolis 500. He loved traveling, with Utah being one of his favorite destinations.
A service will be held at Parkwood Presbyterian Church, 7998 28th Ave., Jenison, MI 49428 on December 14 with visitation from 3:00-4:00pm, a service at 4:00pm, and a luncheon at 5:00pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, honoring Wayne's compassionate spirit.
