In Loving Memory of Wannace Earl Perdue

Wannace Earl Perdue, known by many as Wannace, and to those closest to him as “The Don,” was a loving father of four children, a brother, a grandfather, a son, and a devoted partner. 

Wannace was born on June 27, 1970, to Claudia Houseworth and Jerry Ceaser. He was raised in Chicago, Illinois, before moving to Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 1983. It was in Grand Rapids that Wannace continued his education, attending Northeast Middle School and Central High School, where he also formed many friendships that lasted throughout his life. 

In the fall of 1988, Wannace met Kristal Fox. Their meeting began a beautiful relationship that grew into 33 years together. Through the years, they shared memories, challenges, laughter, and love, creating a bond that remained an important part of Wannace’s life. 

Along with the people in his life, music became a part of who he was. Through his writing, his creativity, and his love for music, he began creating his own identity and leaving his own mark. Don Wan was more than a name; it was a reflection of his personality, his creativity, and the way he saw himself and the world around him. 

Wannace leaves behind four beloved children, who will always carry his love and memory in their hearts: Shawna (Kevin) Fox , Wannace Perdue II, Akeea Fox, and Dominique Pipkins. 

He also leaves behind his 3 siblings- Ramon Ceaser, Salathiel Ceaser and Christopher Perdue, mother Claudia Houseworth and father Jerry Ceaser, 3 grandchildren, family members, friends, and all those whose lives he touched along the way. He is preceded in death by his sister Bridget Smith, nephew JaMichael Smith, and life partner Kristal Fox. 

Wannace was many things to many people, but above all, he was family. His presence, his personality, his love, and the memories he created will continue to live on through the people who knew and loved him. 

May the Don Wan rest peacefully, and may his voice, his creativity, and the love he shared through his music live on through everyone who knew and loved him. May his music continue to fill Heaven.
