Obituary

Wanda Sue Streur, a beacon of love and generosity, left this world on November 25, 2024, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born on January 16, 1952, in the quaint town of Holland, Michigan, Wanda's life was a testament to the power of positivity and the strength of the human spirit. She passed away peacefully in Hamilton, Michigan, leaving behind a legacy of joy and kindness that will forever illuminate the lives of those who knew her.

Wanda's journey began as a proud graduate of West Ottawa High School's class of 1970. Her  work ethic and commitment to service shone brightly throughout her career, from her diligent years as a machine operator at Life Savers to her warm presence in customer service roles at The Hawks Nest, Hamilton Food Center, and Merle Boes. She was the epitome of someone who not only worked to live but lived to bring joy to others through her work.

Her family was the centerpiece of her life. She is survived by her loving children, Rebecca Dunn and Robert (Donna) Rooks, and her cherished siblings, Debra Street, Doug Streur, and Mary (Carey) Tinholt. Wanda's heart was large enough to envelop her 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored with every ounce of her being. Preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Mary Streur, her brother Jim Streur, her grandson Anthony Crump, and her great-grandson Braxton Willis, Wanda's memory will continue to be a guiding light for her family.

Wanda's interests were simple yet profoundly meaningful. She found joy in the kitchen, cooking up love in every dish, and took pride in creating a welcoming and spotless home. Her leisure time was often spent basking in the sun by the pool, where she could be found lounging with a contented smile. A special bond was shared with her sister Deb on their regular shopping trips to Menards, where laughter was a guaranteed addition to every purchase. To say Wanda was loving, spirited, and generous is to merely scratch the surface of the profound impact she made on those around her. Her spirit was a vibrant flame that warmed everyone it touched. She taught us that life's true richness lies in the moments shared and the love spread to those around us.

In the words of Maya Angelou, "Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud". Wanda was indeed that rainbow, a radiant presence who brought color to the most overcast days. Her unwavering optimism and zest for life were contagious, inspiring others to find the silver lining in every cloud.

As we reflect on the remarkable life she had, let us honor her memory by emulating her boundless love and generosity. She was a motivational force, a woman who faced life's challenges head-on and always emerged with a smile. Wanda's legacy is not one of sorrow but a celebration of a life well-lived, a life that will continue to motivate and uplift all who were blessed to know her.

Today, as we bid farewell to this incredible woman, let us carry her light within us. Let it guide us through our own journeys, reminding us to live each day with purpose, to cherish our loved ones, and to always be a source of joy and inspiration to the world. Her spirit will forever dance in the laughter of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, in the comfort of her well-loved recipes, and in the hearts of her children and all who loved her. She has a triumphant story of life that overflowed with love and touched countless souls. She will be deeply missed but her memory will live forever in our hearts.
