Walter "Wally" Milton Gaines Sunrise: November 2, 1952 - Sunset: August 3, 2018 Wally was born November 2, 1952 to Walter C. and Deloris Spearman-Gaines Jr. in Grand Rapids Michigan. As a child Wally attended Madison Elementary School and later accepted Christ as his Personal Savior. Wally Graduated from Central High School in 1970 and then received an Associate Degree in Sociology Psychology from Ferris State College. Wally was smart with a very warm heart and kind spirit. He also had quite the sense of humor, and loved working in the field of providing care to others. To know him was to love him. Wally loved to meet people have a good time, and spend time with his Mother. He also enjoyed taking his great nieces downtown to events whenever he could. Wally received his wings in flight to Eternal Life on Friday August 3, 2018, and will be dearly missed by his family and friends but will forever remain in our hearts. Wally was preceded in death by his Father Walter C. Gaines Jr., and his Grandparents Walter C. and Ellen Gaines Sr. and Joseph M. and Patsy Spearman Sr. He leaves to cherish fond memories to his Mother Deloris Spearman-Gaines, his Sister Regina C. Gaines of Grand Rapids, MI. A Niece Kimberly Gaines of Jackson Tenn., a Nephew John Chevis III of Grand Rapids, MI, his Great Nephew Derius Cain and Great Niece Moniya Chevis of Grand Rapids, MI, and Taisja "Bunny", and Sjatai "Peanut" Dannah of Jackson Tenn., 3 Great Great Nephews Nayden, Noah, and Josiah of Grand Rapids, MI. and a Great Great Niece Kimayah of Jackson Tenn., along with a multitude of Family and Friends. Please help us celebrate Wally's life by joining family and friends as we share reflections and good food on Saturday September 8, 2018, from 2:00pm until 6:00pm at the New Hope Baptist Church 130 Delaware St. SW, Grand Rapids, MI 49507. Enter through the West Entrance "Door D" to the Multipurpose Room. The Family extends a special Thank You to the Healthcare Professionals at Mercy Health Partners (St. Mary's), DaVita Dialysis, Senior Neighbors, Senior Meals, Elders Helpers, Area Agency on Aging, Adams Park Apartments, Simply Cremations, and to all of the Family and Friends who sent prayers, condolences, food, flowers, and other kind gifts and expressions of love. I Am Not Gone I am not gone I remain with you just in a different form. Look for me up high and there you will find me in your hearts which forever lives on. In those moments when you feel alone, look for me in your thoughts and there you will find me in the sweet memories that hold strong.
