Obituary

Vickie Lynn Sandusky, known affectionately as Vickie to her friends and family, passed away peacefully in her hometown of Grand Rapids, MI, on April 11, 2025, at the age of 51, due to cardiac arrest. Born on April 3, 1974, also in Grand Rapids, she was a beacon of love and creativity, embodying selflessness in every aspect of her life. Vickie spent her career as a dedicated General Manager at Speedway, where she not only showed exceptional skill in her professional role but also made lasting relationships with her colleagues and customers. Her work ethic and leadership were admired by all who knew her, and she was deeply involved in her community through her association with the store. Anyone who knew Vickie understood her passion for life, which was vividly expressed through her love of music and cooking. She found joy in melodies and recipes alike, sharing her creations with friends and family at every opportunity. Above all, her greatest pleasure was spending quality time with her beloved grandchildren, Nova Kladder and Nash Sandusky, whose lives she enriched with her warmth and boundless affection. When remembering Vickie, words such as loving, creative, and selfless come to the forefront. She was a woman who put the needs of others before her own, always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear. Her heart was truly the largest part of her, touching countless lives with her kindness and generosity. Her family was her world, and she leaves behind a loving legacy through her cherished mother, Leona Sandusky, her adored children, Erika Sandusky and Brandon Sandusky, and her daughter-in-law, Jordyn. She was a sister to Vanessa Sandusky, Rich and Anthony Stourmire; an aunt to Darius, Joseph, and Anthony, and great-aunt to Isaac. Her nieces, Jalexia and Thalia, and nephew, Anthony, will hold her memory dear. Vickie will also be fondly remembered by her aunt Vickie, and cousins Mike, Christina, Steve, Christina, Darrell, Lori, Carmen, Maria, Jason, Stacie, Michelle, and Pito. Her passing is a profound loss to her best friends Stephanie, Karme, Tracy, Regina, and Marilyn who were like sisters to her. They shared countless memories and supported each other through life's highs and lows. In her life, Vickie's radiant smile and open heart brought together a community of people who loved and respected her deeply. She was the kind of person who left a mark on your heart, and her absence will be felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Vickie, a woman of incredible strength, love, and kindness. Though she has left this world, her spirit will continue to inspire those who were lucky enough to be touched by her life. Vickie Lynn Sandusky will be profoundly missed, but her legacy of love and selflessness will live on forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
