Vance "Russ" Hill of Wayland, Michigan, age 78, passed away on December 20, 2021.
He was born to Vance and Martha Jean (Coppock) Hill, in Nevada City, CA on September 11, 1943. At a young age his family moved to Michigan. In 1961 Russ graduated from Grand Ledge High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army; serving in the Vietnam War.
Russ had a successful career in skilled trades for General Motors, Lansing plant, retiring in 1998. In 1982 he married Linda Homsey and together they enjoyed many years at their cottage on Sapphire Lake in Lake City with their children.
Russ enjoyed bowling and golfing, always trying for that hole-in-one, but most of all treasured his time with his family. He loved watching his grandkids play hockey, golf, volleyball, and basketball. In his free time, Russ enjoyed boat rides on Gun Lake and walks with his dog Piper.
Russ is survived by the love of his life, Linda; his children Angela (Brent) Lambright, Renee Bartlett, Daren (Gigi) Look, Erika McConnell, and Brian (Dana) Look; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers Daniel Laraway and Fred (Ellen) Laraway; step mother Margaret Laraway.
Russ is preceded in death by his parents, Vance and Martha Jean; mother-in-law Sophie Homsey; grandson Christopher Ellis; step-father Bob Laraway and step-mother Frances Hill.
