Tom DeGroot, age 78, passed away on 9/12/2019 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Marie DeGroot; brother, David DeGroot; stepdaughter, Michelle Brown and in-laws Daniel and Nellie Eskew. Tom is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sharrel; stepdaughter, Kim (Jeff) Miller, sons, Steven and David James (Jamie) DeGroot; stepson, Brad VanRhee; sister, Chris Daly; brothers, Mike (Pam) DeGroot and Bruce (Cathy) DeGroot; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Ronald (Connie) Eskew, David (Linda) Eskew; sisters-in-law, Sandra (Ken) Hazen, Marcia (Carl) Haynes and former sister-in-law, Sue Eskew. Tom worked for Davenport College for 21 years before retiring. He liked woodworking, camping (25 years) and traveling to Alaska, the Caribbean, and the Smokey Mountains. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and a family service was held.
