Obituary

November 27, 2012 Service: December 1, 2012 Timothy Owen Johnson, 56, of Rockford, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, November 27th at Faith Hospice in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Family and friends were with Tim, supporting him as he took the first step on his next journey. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on June 12, 1956 to parents Owen and Yvonne Johnson. He graduated from Traverse City Senior High School in 1974, later earning his Bachelors degree and pursuing a career in sales. Tim made his home in the Grand Rapids area, marrying Margaret Riley in 1990. Tim's professional life was primarily as a product broker, most recently with Acosta Sales & Marketing in Grand Rapids. He regularly led his division in sales and received numerous awards and recognitions from the companies he represented. Personally, Tim had many interests, most which allowed him to spend time with his wide circle of friends-many of whom had been with him since childhood. An avid golfer and snow-skier, Tim always looked for a challenge. He displayed a zest for life that was diminished only later in life due to complications from a near lifetime struggle with Diabetes. It's Tim's generosity, loyalty, courage and a truly phenomenal sense of humor that his family and friends will treasure the most. Those who will miss Tim are his daughter, Riley Anne Johnson; surviving parent, Yvonne Johnson; brother Eric Johnson and his wife Deb; sister Karen Johnson; nephews Bret and Ross Johnson; numerous cousins and countless friends. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to The American Diabetes Association. A gathering will be held Saturday, December 1st, 2012 from 2-5pm at 6284 Kuttshill, Rockford, MI 49341. A visitation will also be held in Traverse City at Reynolds-Jonkoff Funeral Home, at a date to be announced at a later time.
