Early Thursday, June 22, 2023, Thomas Daniel Mingledorff, Jr. flew gently through earthly clouds into the beauty of Heaven. Tom was born on April 2, 1931, to Thomas Daniel Mingledorff and Winona Cage Mingledorff in Monroe, Louisiana.

Preceding him in death were his parents and younger brothers, Jeremy Mingledorff and Kurt Mingledorff. He is survived by his wife Mary, son Thomas Daniel Mingledorff, III (Amy), daughter Catherine Elizabeth Mingledorff, granddaughter Laura Mingledorff, brother Eric Mingledorff (Debbie), and sister Dana Mingledorff (Jim).

Airplanes provided a life-long focus, excitement and joy for Tom. From building model airplanes, to Marion Institute, to West Point Military Academy, to the United States Air Force and the National Guard, he built and sustained this expertise. He worked for many years as a systems engineer, particularly on flight management systems. Tennis, sailing, classical music, family genealogy, and classic movies were favorites. His dry sense of humor was appreciated even in his final days and charms our memories of him.

Visitation is planned for Monday, June 26, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Ave SE Kentwood, MI 49508.  A private burial service with family and friends will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at Woodlawn Cemetery, 2530 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI.  Anyone attending should meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. for the car procession.  Pastor Dean Prentiss will lead this service as well as the Memorial Service.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, June 27, 2023, 3:00 p.m. at Wesley Park United Methodist Church, 1150 32nd St. SW Wyoming, MI. After the service, lunch will be served in the Family Life Center. Contributions in memory of Tom may be sent to Faith Hospice.
