Thomas William Horter September 17, 1951 – February 13, 2025

Tom was born at the family farm in Conklin, Michigan to Edward and Mildred Horter, one of 10 children. Being a farm boy never left Tom. He was well known for his beautiful vegetable garden every year and was a great provider in all ways and grew all the family's food for the coming winter. He surrounded himself with nature. Hunting and fishing were his passions. He enjoyed the life's simple pleasures in life. He often sat outside on a sunny day, a cat on his lap, happily contemplating his next project, or inventing a new tool or inventive way of completing a current project, or what to plant next in the garden. Tom worked as a very skilled mason for most of his life, taking great pride in his work. He was good at whatever he put his hand to – designing and building, 'flipping' houses, and completing various projects for family, friends and neighbors. In 1980, Tom met Marian Juntunen in Houghton, Michigan and they married in July 1982.
He was immensely proud of their 4 sons. Christopher (Catie O'Bell) of Grand Rapids, Jared (Michelle Poley) of Nunica, Graeme of Coopersville, and Tristan of Fruitport. Tom is greatly missed by his wife, sons, 6 sisters, 3 brothers and large extended family. Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life is planned for June 2025 in his beloved backyard.
