IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thomas Eugene
Deyoung
December 12, 1944 – November 2, 2020
Thomas E. DeYoung of Wyoming, Michigan, age 75, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2020. He was born to Jerry and Jeanette DeYoung on December 12, 1944 in Grand Rapids, MI.
Tom was one of 13 in a family full of love and mischief. His brothers and sisters were also his friends and he often spent time with them. He learned the ing trade at South High School and he ultimately became a press repairman.
Tom was married to Carol Rae Joyce on July 20, 1963, whom he had known since kindergarten. Little did they know they would have a love for a lifetime. In his free time, Tom loved to be outside in the yard, he loved to go camping, fishing, hunting, and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles in the winter. He especially loved to spend time around his South High friends at Marge's Donut Den as he was such a social and happy man. Tom had a strong work ethic and worked to support his family. His sense of humor and happy disposition made him welcome wherever he went.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years Carol Rae Joyce DeYoung, his loving children Kimberly Heibel (and friend Mark Haan), Thomas and Heather DeYoung, and Kristin Bolt (and friend Douglas Bates). He had five grandchildren, Andrew and Lindsay Heibel, Alexander Heibel (and friend Madi Riley), Ashleigh DeYoung, Keira DeYoung, and Audra Bolt. He had 4 great grandchildren. His siblings Roger and Jan DeYoung, Connie DeYoung, Ron and Cheryl DeYoung, Bob and Pat DeYoung, Sharon Kooiker, Carl and Phyllis DeYoung, and David and Deb DeYoung.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jerry and Jeanette DeYoung, his siblings Clayton Newhouse, Delores and Nick Kooiker, Jerry Lee DeYoung, Jack DeYoung, Jim DeYoung, Ruth and Stan Prusinski, Kristi DeYoung, and his son-in-law Larry Heibel.
The family would like to thank Faith Hospice, Trillium Woods for their care and compassion during Tom's illness. The two compassionate doctors and fabulous nurses that took care of Tom and his family.
