Thang Gia Phan, 70, Wyoming, Michigan, born in Quang Ngai, Vietnam on October 21, 1945. He passed away peacefully on Feb 8th at 5:45pm 2016 at Spectrum Health Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan at the start of the Chinese New Year as he had wished. At his bedside, was his loving wife Hoa Kim Le of 49 years and 8 kids (Thanh, Tuyen, Van, Trung (Adam), Loan, Nga, Yen, and Dung). Thang was a man of God and lived his life as such unselfish, loving unconditionally, and always giving back to his community of Grand Rapids and the church without hesitation. He was also a devoted father, husband, friend to all, and a grandparent to his 19 grandchildren with one on his way. He enjoyed spending time with his friends, family and grandchildren along with going fishing, playing soccer, and singing karaoke. He was quite a handy man and there wasn't anything he could not fix or build when it came to the home. He brings a smile to everyone he interacts with. We will never forget his always smiling face. He was the hardest working person that we've ever known. At times working three jobs to raise his family. I remember his quote, "You don't have to be the smartest person but as long as you are the hardest working person then there is nothing you can't do". He loved devoting his energy to his religion and the Catholic Church. He was a giving person and at times gave away what little we had to the immigrants because they needed more than we did. We want to thank the health professionals at Spectrum Health for their loving care and support. We also want to thank the Catholic Church Our Lady of La Vang along with Catholic Community. The family will receive friends on Thursday, Feb 11th and Friday, Feb 12th from 5pm-7pm at Our Lady of La Vang 2019 Porter St, Wyoming, MI 49509, and Saturday, Feb 13th from 10am-11am with funeral mass starting at 11am at Our Lady of La Vang.
