Obituary

Terri Lee Downs (Dudley), 72, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt passed away unexpectedly on September 23, 2025. She was born on March 30, 1953, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and resided in Pierson, Michigan.

Terri is survived by her husband, Edward Downs; her daughter, Kelly (Mitch) Eefsting; her grandson, Nicholas Eefsting; her sisters, Patricia (Bert) Van Drunen, Carole (Dennis) Funk; her sister-in-law, Eileen (David) Madison; her brothers-in-law, Joe (Sue) Shepard and Erick (Lisa) Shepard; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  She was predeceased by her parents, Francis and Teresa (Mol) Dudley; her brother, Michael Dudley; her sister, Delores (Rog) Tomczak, and her mother-in-law and father-in-law Helen (Zeeff) and Joe Shepard; and sister-in-law, Beth (Roger) Waivio.

Terri made every life better for having touched it. She shared 54 beautiful years of marriage with her husband, Edward, with whom she loved traveling to Florida. Her heart was always at home on Little Whitefish Lake and in the house her parents built in the 1960's, where she spent countless hours swimming, kayaking, fishing, having campfires, going on boat rides, and making memories with her family and friends.

Terri's hobbies were many and varied, including camping, bike riding, rock hunting, going on adventures with her daughter Kelly, and taking pictures - often of sunsets, turtles, and frogs. She loved reading, going to movies, and meticulously setting up festive Halloween and Christmas Village displays. Above all, she treasured spending time with her family, especially her much-loved grandson, Nick.

A lover of all animals, Terri particularly cherished her beloved Pug, Stella. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Terri's name to a local animal shelter, such as the Kent County Animal Shelter or the Humane Society of West Michigan. Contributions can also be made to the American Cancer Society or the Susan G. Komen Foundation, as she was a Breast Cancer Survivor herself.

Terri's memory will be forever cherished by all her loved ones. Her spirit, warm heart, and love of life will be deeply missed.

A private family celebration of Terri's life will be held at a later date.
