Terence Michael Mulkern, 57, passed away on July 4, 2018 of multiple myeloma at his home in Kentwood, Michigan. Terence Mulkern was born in Fargo, North Dakota to Gregory and Joan Mulkern on November 6, 1960. He earned a Bachelor of University Studies in Architectural Journalism from North Dakota State University, and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Arizona State University. Prior to the birth of his children, Terry taught writing at Arizona State University. After the birth of his sons Ciaran and James, Terry was a devoted, loving, caring, stay-at-home dad and husband first in Glendale, Arizona and then in Kentwood, Michigan. Before his cancer progressed, Terry enjoyed outdoor activities with his family including biking, hiking, camping, traveling, and his daily run. Terence Mulkern is survived by his wife Wendy Ljungren, who he loved beyond measure; sons Ciaran and James Mulkern of Kentwood; mother Joan Mulkern of Fargo; sisters Kathleen Smail of Lexington, MA, Rita Mulkern of Bismarck, ND, and Ann Mulkern of Wyndcote, PA; brothers Joe Mulkern of Albuquerque, NM and Paul Mulkern of Fargo; paternal aunt Terese Terry, and maternal uncles Michael Johnston and James Johnston. Terry is preceded in death by his father, Gregory Mulkern. A reception will be held in Kentwood in July and a memorial service will be held in Fargo in August.
