Tamra R. Bassett of Kentwood, Michigan, age 75, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2019. She was born to Howard and Alice (Price) Gerlach on January 28, 1944. Tamra was the oldest of two children. She was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was a 1962 graduate of Rogers High School. Tamra loved to show Great Danes. She and Tom currently co-own Doc Holliday who is in the top ten Great Danes in the United States. She worked at JC Penney catalog as a supervisor and trainer for over twenty years. In her free time, Tamra enjoyed camping with her family, attending her grandchildren's sporting events, and most of all, just spending time with them. Tamra is survived by her beloved husband of nearly fifty-seven years, Thomas E. Bassett; loving children Tom (Malinda), Chuck (Kristine); and grandchildren, Tommy, Brent, Michael, Alex, and Matthew. She was preceded in death by her father Howard Gerlach. She is survived by her mother Alice; and brother Steve. There will be a time of visitation from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Avenue SE, Kentwood, Michigan 49508. The funeral service for Tamra will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2019, at Ofield Funeral Home. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service. The family is attending the burial at 3:30 p.m. at Rosedale Memorial Park, 50 Lake Michigan Drive NW, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49534. Everyone is welcome.
