Sylvia Ann Miller, a beacon of warmth and creativity, passed away peacefully due to natural causes on December 16, 2023, at the age of 84, in Georgetown Township, Michigan. Born on February 5, 1939, in Wheeling, West Virginia, Sylvia lived a life characterized by love, artistry, and an indomitable spirit that left an indelible mark on everyone she met.
Known affectionately as Sylvia to her friends and family, she was the wife to the late Theo Neil Miller, and stepmother to Tom Miller, Ted Miller (Laura), Shari Fortier (Scott), Sharon LaDow (Bob), Linda Koster (James). She loved her nieces and nephews, Sherri MacNamara (Mike) and Doug Reinholtz (Becky), and was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Dixie Reinholtz (Dick Reinholtz).
Sylvia completed her education in her hometown of Wheeling before embarking on a career that saw her bring joy and care to her community. She dedicated years of service as a bus driver, where she greeted every child with a smile, and as a teller at Old Kent Bank, where her friendly demeanor made her a favorite among customers.
Beyond her professional life, Sylvia was an avid and gifted artist. She shared her knowledge and passion for ceramics by teaching classes, inspiring many to explore their own creativity. Her artistic talents extended to quilting and painting, which not only adorned her home but also served as cherished gifts to those she loved. Sylvia's adventurous spirit shone through in her love for hunting and fishing, where she found peace and solace in nature.
Sylvia's love for animals was profound, and she was known for the tender care she gave to her dogs and cats. Each pet was not just an animal in her home but a member of the family, receiving all the love and affection she could give.
Those who knew Sylvia will remember her as loving, creative, and spirited. She approached life with an open heart, a kind word, and a readiness to lend a hand. Her laughter was infectious, and her ability to find beauty in the everyday made her a joy to be around.
