Suzanne Pearl Franklin (Sue, Skeeter) age 91, of Caledonia, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 19, 2026. She was born on October 20, 1934, in Wyoming, Michigan, to Bernard Harlow Abbott and Louisa Pearl (Venroy) Abbott.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, MaryLou VanTubergen, Charles, Larry, and Patrick Abbott; and her husbands, Cecil Cartwright, Jack Conlon, and Darwin Franklin.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Lin (Rick) VanderBeek of Dadeville, Alabama, Dennis Cartwright of Muskegon, Michigan, and Paula Moerland of New York. She was a proud grandmother to Ian (Erin) VanderBeek of Atlanta, Georgia;

Catherine (Brandon) Bell of Phoenix, Arizona; Benjamin Cartwright of Gowen, Michigan; and Dakota Cartwright of Twin Lake, Michigan. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Miller, Drake, and Maxwell VanderBeek; Wyatt and Ryer

Bell; Ryder Cartwright and Benjamin Cartwright. Sue is also survived by her siblings, Ruth Vanderstelt. Stan (Diane) and Roger (Leigh Ann) Abbott.

Sue began her career as a waitress before joining General Motors, where she worked until her retirement on November 1, 1986. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Jack, spending cherished time at the family farm with Darwin and his daughter Kay, creating lasting memories at family gatherings. Known for her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor, Sue had a gift for making those around her smile. Above all, she treasured being a grandmother and found great joy in the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She shared a special bond with her sister and lifelong best friend, Ruth, with whom she enjoyed many happy moments together.

Sue will be laid to rest beside her mother, Pearl, at Grandville Cemetery in Kent County, Michigan.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Faith Hospice for the compassionate care they provided during Sue’s final days.
