Susan Lee Arnold, age 76, of Grand Rapids, Michigan passed away Saturday September 19, 2026 at Grand Brooke Memory Care in Grandville, MI. The daughter of Cecil Arnold and Madeleine (Hopper) Arnold, Susan was born on January 12, 1950 in Charlevoix, MI.

Susan grew up in Northern Michigan near Torch Lake and returned often to visit. She loved nature, lakes, sunsets, astronomy, and lighthouses. She enjoyed classical music, jazz, oldies, and Celtic music. She was a creative, kind, passionate, accepting individual.

Susan was an artist and stay at home mom. She also taught English to migrant workers, which she found very fulfilling. Susan was skilled in oil, acrylic, and watercolor painting, as well as pastels and pottery. She had a beautiful singing voice and loved to sing to her children and then eventually her grandson. She was a beloved sister, cousin, and aunt to many family members.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, and her youngest sister Cynthia (Arnold) Burchfield. Surviving are her husband, Isaac Mantle of Grand Rapids, their children Rachel Mantle-Douglas and Leeanne VerPlank, a sister Connie (Arnold) Visser, a brother Larry Arnold, and many nieces and nephews. 

The family invites relatives and friends to celebrate Susan’s life from 11am-1pm on Saturday November 7, 2026 at Life Stream Church, located at 6561 Lake Michigan Dr. Allendale MI 49401.
