IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sue
Williams
December 8, 1940 – October 14, 2024
Billie Sue Williams, known affectionately as Sue by her friends and family, passed away peacefully due to natural causes on October 14, 2024, in Grand Rapids, MI. Born on December 8, 1940, in Bristol, TN, Sue grew up in a world humming with post-war optimism, a trait that she carried with her throughout her vibrant life.
Sue was a woman of considerable energy and love, cherished by all who knew her. The daughter of the late Faye and William Franklin Sutton, she was raised with a deep sense of compassion and an unwavering spirit. Her beloved husband, JE Williams, predeceased her, leaving a legacy of love and shared memories. Sue is survived by her children, John (Beth) Williams, Barbara (Alisha King), and Heather Williams, as well as her grandchildren Jack and Connor, who will forever remember her as a guiding light in their lives.
Having studied at Bob Jones University, Sue dedicated her early career to caring for others as a nurse's aid, a testament to her nurturing character. She later transitioned to clerical work at AMP Incorporated in Harrisburg, PA, where her meticulous nature and warm demeanor made her a valued member of the team. Continuing her journey of service, Sue offered her skills and kindness as an aid at Country Meadows Retirement Community in Hershey, PA, touching the lives of many with her gentle care.
Sue's interests were as rich and varied as her life. She had a particular fondness for the theater and musicals, reveling in the stories and songs that mirrored her own joyous approach to life. A culinary enthusiast, she delighted in cooking and was always eager to explore new recipes, adding her unique twist to every dish. Her adventurous spirit also found joy in travel, as she sought out new locations, each becoming a page in her vast book of experiences.
However, it was sewing and quilting that captured Sue's heart. Her passion for the craft wove a tapestry of community and friendship. She co-founded a sewing and quilting club at Samaritas Senior Living, now known as StoryPoint Grand Rapids East, where she was both a mentor and a dear friend, spreading her enthusiasm and fostering a sense of togetherness among the residents.
Sue's spirit was characterized by her spirited zest for life, her loving nature, and her friendly disposition. These words are a mere reflection of a woman whose presence could light up a room and whose laughter could lift the heaviest of hearts. Her influence extended beyond her immediate circle, touching the lives of all she met with her innate kindness and her unwavering positivity.
As we bid farewell to Sue, we celebrate a life lived to its fullest, marked by an indomitable spirit and a boundless capacity for love. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and a belief in the goodness of people that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Sue's memory will be cherished and her spirit will continue to guide us, just as the stars guide travelers in the night sky.
Sue's life will be honored in a private ceremony at Ofield Funeral Home, attended by her immediate family and cherished friends on Saturday November 9th at 1:00 with reception to follow. Her departure from this world is not an end but a continuation of her journey, one that she embraced with open arms and a heart full of hope. We take comfort in knowing that Sue's legacy will live on, not only in our memories but in the countless lives she touched with her extraordinary soul.
