Sue Edith (Oakes) Vaughn March 31,1933 - June 15, 2017 Mrs. Vaughn walked on gently on June15, 2017 in the loving embrace of her daughter and son in law. She said that she didn't want a memorial,"only music." The last words she heard were "I love you." The songs she heard were familiar gospel and mountain folk songs sung by her daughter. She was preceded in death by her dear husband, George Clay Vaughn of Grand Rapids and Irons, Michigan in 2008, Her son James Clay Vaughn in 2012, her parents Clarence and Flossie (Gastineau) Oakes, her sister Caroline Oakes, her beloved uncle and "best childhood friend" Russell Gastineau, all of Lancaster, KY, as well as her brothers in law Jack Allen and James Vaughn. "Gran" was an ever present, dedicated grandmother to her beloved grandchildren Anthony Stepter of Chicago, IL, Arianna Stepter of Greensboro, NC, and Amariah Stepter of Brooklyn, NY. While separated both by miles and years from her son's children Cassady and Jorma Vaughn, she loved them. Cassady is the mother of her two great grandchildren, Connor and Adeline. Mrs. Vaughn is survived by her daughter Rebecca, son in law LaFedric Stepter, her sister Joyce Allen, her five grandchildren and two great grandchildren, her aunt Gwen and cousins Rick & Adrienne Gastineau and family, her sister in law Sarah Vaughn, her niece Sally Vaughn and her family. She is also survived by her sister in law Ann Robertson and family. Momma loved her exchange student daughters, Anne Largillière of Vers Pont du Gard, France and Cintia Maria Fiorillo Hwa of Sé
