Obituary

'God seeker, worshipper, loving husband, father, family and friend' Stevio 'Vanny' VanKampen, or 'SVK', age 54, quietly ran into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father in eternity, early Sunday morning, 17th of June, 2018, he was at his home in Coopersville, Mich. Steve is survived by his loving wife, Tammy, of 17 years, his daughter, Vivian, ('girlie'), sister Debbie (Karl) Lubbers. Mother in law, Beth French. Father in law, David French. Sisters in law, Jennifer French and Stefanie French. And many nieces and nephews, (Travis Jenae, Tyler, Neil, Nora). Steve was born November 21, 1963, in Oklahoma, to Ronald and Yvonne VanKampen (both deceased). He graduated from Trinity Bible College in Ellendale, North Dakota, affiliated with the Assemblies of God. He studied Bible and Music ministries, he developed many lasting friendships. Steve worked in sales for many great companies, Kenowa Industries, for Ed Amaya, selling material handling solutions. He worked for GE medical systems, Hologic, and Toshiba (now Canon Medical Systems), selling medical imaging equipment to doctor offices and hospitals. He developed many business friendships in his working career. He had a passion for selling, however, his heart was always about God, music, his family, friends and people! His passion was turning hearts towards Jesus by means of music, words and his testimony. He loved the seekers and searchers. One minute he would be talking about one of his many favorite movies and then he would be asking where your heart is with God. He would do this without even blinking an eye! If you had a heart for God, he'd want to hear your thoughts... If you didn't know the Lord, better have another hour so he could share his God with you, and you wouldn't even realize what was going on! He'll leave you laughing and smiling, and then ask yourself... What just happened? Steve had an infectious laugh, genuine smile, a warm heart, and loved God with an audacious spirit! He was a man after God's own heart... a true worshipper. He knew his purpose on earth, to seek God, love Jesus, feel and heed the power and call of the Holy Spirit in his life. He attended Grand Rapids First with his wife and daughter. He was a prayer partner and was very active in the men's ministry. He was dedicated to working with men and their walk with God. His passion was getting to matters of the heart. He will be deeply missed by so many. His absence is our loss... But Heaven's gain! He finished his race well. He fought the good fight of faith, he never wavered in his faith. His goal and focus was always Kingdom minded, and how to point others to Jesus. Steve fought cancer for over 4 months. Though from the very beginning of his fight he would say and tell others, "It's always been about God. The answer was never about the healing... it was always about God, and what He wanted to do in me and through me." - SVK Ministry is walking forward in obedience and in faith. We rarely see the footprints we're leaving, the legacy that will define us, or the impact we're having. And that's okay. Prayer: May they forget me and remember You Jesus. Legacy is not leaving something for people, it's leaving something in people. Steve's Coming Home Celebration will be held Friday evening, June 29.
