Steven Douglas Paavo, age 77, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at Trinity Health St. Mary's.

Steve was born on January 30, 1945 in Highland Park, Michigan, to Douglas and Agnes (Miller) Paavo. He grew up in Hastings and graduated from Hastings High School. He worked throughout his life as a banker. He was known to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it.

Steven will be missed by his loving wife, Sheila (McClure) Paavo; children: Lisa (Craig) Hellems, Eric (Erin Chapla) Paavo, Rick DeYoung, and Bob DeYoung; grandchildren: Elise (Nick), Devan, Claire, Grayson, Kyle, June, and Ruth; brothers: Dion and Keith Paavo; as well as many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Diane; and brother, Eugene.

A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 24, 2022, at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Kentwood, with Pastor Sean Kidd officiating. A visitation will take place from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at the funeral home and again on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A luncheon will be held immediately following the completion of the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Resurrection Cemetery, 4100 Clyde Park Ave SW, Wyoming.
